• democracy
• the rule of law
• individual liberty
• mutual respect
• tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

How we teach Spiritual, Moral Social and Cultural and British Values in Reception and Key Stage 1

What we cover in our SMSC teaching...

Rule of Law, Democracy, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect, Tolerance of different cultures and religions.

How our SMSC Curriculum is delivered...

Through the ethos of the school and the whole school environment. Growth Mindset, Zones of Regulation, Capes of Success, class and school rules, Behaviour Triangle, PSHE curriculum, RE curriculum – visits to the Cathedral and Mosque in Year 2, outside visitors.

We celebrate Diwali, Chinese New Year, Easter and Christmas as well as other celebrations throughout the year.

Children understand the importance of rules and sanctions and this is consistent throughout the school. They understand the importance of fairness and feel safe and secure in their school environment.

The children feel valued and know the systems in place and fair and democratic. Every member of our school community is respected and valued.
