Forest School - March 2020
This week at Forest School Year One have been using tools for the first time to make toffee apples. We discussed staying safe with potato peelers and the importance of wearing safety gloves.
The children did an excellent job of peeling their own apples, coating them in sugar and cinnamon and finally toasting them on the fire.
We were impressed with the children staying safe around the fire and always walking around the outside of the log circle.
"I love toffee apples they taste FANTASTIC!"
Sitting around the fire gave a perfect opportunity for some mindful activities, we closed our eyes for 30 seconds and listened....
"I heard the fire crackling" "I heard the wind blowing" "I smelt the fire" "I heard birds singing" "I felt the wind on my face"
The mud kitchen continued to be popular...
"I'm making a special soup for my mum"
Some of the children made homes for woodland animals , like this cage for foxes.
The children noticed signs of spring and we discussed the changes in seasons.
Some of the children were busy decorating trees with mud paint.
