Welcome back

I hope you all had a lovely half term and managed to enjoy the sunshine. It was so nice to see everyone back at school ready for a very busy half term.

Our topic this half term is 'Magical and Mystical' and we will be learning about castles and all things mystical.

Holiday Half Term Homework

Please can you play the phonics snakes and ladders with your child. To play they need to call out the sound that they land on as well as a word with that sound in.

I hope you all have a lovely relaxing break.

Old and New Toys

This week we have been learning about toys from the past. We have thought about the different materials that they are made from. We have been on a material hunt and described their different properties.

Toy Story

We have been using scenes from the film to describe the characters and  the settings. We  thought of lots of different adjectives using our senses. The children are now planning on how to make a Slinky Dog in DT.

Welcome back to 2019

A wam welcome back to school. It was so lovely to see so many smiley faces after the Christmas break. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. We are so excited to start our new topic, 'Toys.' The children were so proud to bring in a toy. We used these to set up our 'Squirrel Toy Shop' and learnt to recognise coins.

Welcome to Year 1.

It was so lovely to see the children returning after the holiday full of enthusiasm and ready to learn.

This half term our topic is, ‘Percy’s in a Pickle.’ We started our topic by finding Percy on the floor having fallen in a hole and hurt his leg. We asked him what was wrong and how could help him. Percy was worried he would not be able to do his jobs in the park.

We decided we would help him and be Junior Park Keepers.  Year 1 now need to decide how we can support poor Percy.
