Rainforest Explorers

Our topic for this term is Rainforest Explorers. We have been busy learning about the Amazon Rainforest and river in Science and Geography and researching information about some of the animals that live there.

In our maths lessons we are working on problem solving and consolidating our learning so that we are well prepared for SATS!  In English we are learning how to write a non-chronological report using Talk for Writing.

We have also been looking at the work of the artist Georgia O'Keefe and have been inspired to create our own 'close-up' studies of jaguars.

Now that the warmer weather has arrived we have been enjoying learning tennis skills and are looking forward to 3Tees cricket and athletics later on in the term. Our dance and music lessons have continued on a South American theme as we have been learning some basic Samba rhythms and dance steps.

Class Assembly

Thank you to everyone who came to our class assembly. The children performed with great confidence and really enjoyed showing you their work about the Iron Man.

DT Iron Man morning

On Tuesday we had lots of fun making giant Iron men in the hall, pneumatic Space-bat-angels, mini Iron men models and used various construction kits to build a trap for the Iron Man.

Thank you to all parents who kindly gave up their morning to join us in school, the children gained skills in designing, fixing and evaluating their creations.

We are busy rehearsing our class assembly which is next Friday 2nd February and are looking forward to welcoming our families to share our learning.

We are all very excited about our new topic Heroes and Villains.

On Monday we discovered some mysterious robot wreckage on the playground which has lead us into the story of The Iron Man. We are reading a chapter a day and can’t wait to find out what happens next!

Our D&T day will be good fun, so keep collecting useful boxes and packaging!

Our English work this half term will be based on the story of The Iron Man and we will be working on writing character descriptions focusing on using precise nouns, effective adjectives and adverbs.

In maths we will be working on multiplication and division, statistics and shape.

Lots of us are busy practising our maths skills at home and are proud to be getting our Challenge Me certificates.

In Science we will be learning about Animals including humans and thinking about what animals and humans need to survive, life cycles and classifying whether things are alive or not alive.
