As detailed in the communication sent out on Friday 5th June, we will now be sending out weekly Home Learning Menus on Friday afternoons.  These Home Learning Menus are only for the children who are not in school.

At the bottom of this page, you will find your year groups weekly plan and a PDF copy of the workbook that it refers to.  A paper copy of these workbooks are available to collect from outside the school office if required.  Exercise books are also in the packs outside the school office.  Please take your child's named pack out of the box.

As requested by parent/carers, there is also a Basic Skills weekly plan, CVC Phonics amd Maths Workbook for those children with additional needs or for those who are finding it tricky to concentrate.  These workbooks are also available from outside the school office if you would like a copy.  They are not named so if you do take one, please email Mrs Robinson at senco@barnesfarm-inf.essex.sch.uk to say that you have taken one so that we can make sure enough are printed for all year groups.

Monday 8th June - World Oceans Day

World Oceans Day is held every year on 8th June to raise awareness of the vital importance of our oceans and the role they play in sustaining a healthy planet. A global celebration, it looks to bring people and organisations together across the globe in a series of events highlighting how we can all help protect and converse the oceans.

Why do we celebrate World Oceans Day?

There is a multitude of reasons why World Ocean Day is an important event to celebrate. Here are just some of them:

• The ocean generates a lot of the oxygen we breathe.

• It provides food around the world.

• It regulates the climate.

• It gives work opportunities to thousands of people.

• Is home to trillions of fish and sea creatures.

How is World Ocean Day celebrated?

Over the last 28 years, World Ocean Day has blossomed into a massive occasion, drawing in people from all over the world to play their part in protecting the great blue that surrounds us.

In 2019, over 2,000 events were held worldwide in over 140 countries, signifying the huge reach that this event has. 

The World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council has a particularly big role in organising and distributing fundraising material to young people.

On social media, hashtags such as #protectourhome are circulated every year to further raise awareness of World Ocean Day.

Saturday 13th June - Cupcake Day - Alzheimer's Society

 

This special event takes place on June 13th and is held each year to raise money to help the fight against dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Whether you like to bake or simply show your support by purchasing cupcakes to munch, this is a great way to help people in your local community.

Get the little ones involved and get creative with what’s in the cupboards to cook up some magic in the kitchen. Dust off everyone’s favourite recipes or try whisking up something new to raise money for people affected by dementia. Cupcake Day is a great break from lessons and will also teach them a brand new skill! They can show off their creations to the whole family.  We would love to see some photos of your yummy cakes!
